Leap Day just brings us closer and closer to the unveiling of my second album "My Bleak Dream". Recording will take place within a week or two. Expect a release date of March 28th-31st 2012. Unlike with "Fallen Angel", it will be released on my Youtube under the playlist "My Bleak Dream" before I will consider going releasing it on iTunes.

Marl has recently contacted U.S. congresswoman about the concerns with SOPA and PIPA.
Her response...

I did not cosponsor this legislation. By letter, e-mail, and telephone call, thousands of constituents like you have highlighted the potential pitfalls in the bill. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, who was a strong supporter of PIPA, has withdrawn the bill from Senate floor consideration. I agree with this decision. Although there are legitimate issues to be addressed regarding so-called internet piracy, I believe that several provisions of the current legislation need to be clarified or revised.

Protecting intellectual property is more challenging than ever before. For example, high speed broadband enables access to the entire catalog of movies, music, books, television, and technology. These protections should not censor free speech, nor should they hinder innovation. Online promotion of counterfeit goods by foreign entities is also a growing concern. Assessing how to protect copyright, patent, and intellectual property rights — and doing so without infringing on consumers’ legitimate interests — requires dealing with a complex series of problems. Please be assured that I will keep your views in mind should this bill or related legislation be reported to the floor for action by the full Senate. I appreciate hearing from you, and I hope that you will not hesitate to contact me on any issue that is important to you.

Good to see that even congressmen from Texas (where the SOPA bill began) is not supporting the bill in case it turns up again. But it's still a little too early to celebrate cause there's still debate on the Protect IP Act.

Sort of Good News Regarding SOPA

The SOPA bill that was proposed by U.S. Representative Lamar Smith (R-TX) has been postponed. But it just get's better, the White House stated that they don't support SOPA on quote "We will not support legislation that reduces freedom of expression, increases cyber security risk, or undermines the dynamic global internet". It's hard to believe that congressmen from a liberal city of Austin Texas would introduce such a disgrace to many music artist, graphic artist, film makers, and other online media creators that use the internet a tool to get a bunch of attention for their hobby. However it's too early to celebrate right now since the bill could be brought up at any time. But there will be even more discussion on the Protect IP Act for the time being. Protect IP is not as bad as SOPA but it's still should NOT be passed by legislation. Source at The Escapist.

DWE's 2012 New Years Resolution

As we welcome the new year, I would like to thank the remix success of my two extended plays of 2011. The number one resolution for 2012 is to stop SOPA (Stop Online Piracy Act) from being passed. For online music disstributers like Deep With Envy, SOPA is a major threat. If it is passed, it would either have to switch to an expensive major record lable or close it's doors.

Again, my music is a hobby, I don't mind if people either download it from Youtube or buy them on iTunes. I do however put some of my earnings into my funds if I have any. The good thing is that there are a whole lot more people against SOPA than there are supporters.

Music Sheet Software makes things easier

Writing and recording songs for my new album just got ten times easier than with my debut Fallen Angel last year. Thanks to a new music notation software that I can use to write and edit my future songs as opposed to writing them on paper. Which is what was holding me back last time due to me loosing the papers and finding and reinstalling the synthesizer software FL Studio.

The program is a music sheet version of Microsoft Word called Crescendo. It's a neat free program for all you song writers out there too. If your also a very busy person like me, you should download it to save time.

Fallen Angel is 1 Year Old!

Can you believe it's already been a year since I released my debut album "Fallen Angel"? The good news is that it turns out that I'm still under contract with Tune Core. I have an auto renewal, so my music is still available for purchase in the iTunes store. I now take back everything I said about not posting music with Tune Core, cause it's still alive.

Also, in celebration of Fallen Angel's first anniversary, I have uploaded extended plays on Lonesome Voices and I Won't Let You Go last month. There is also a video commentary on my Lonesome Voices music video that explains my production and the concept.

Reason for EP Delay

At first I planed to record and release my EP in the summer. But I was unable to do so because I had to move out of my appartment and then relocate to the new college (I'm NOT gonna tell you which one) that I've attended the past year at another location and now will attend on campus full time.
Because of this all my stuff is in storage including the stuff I use to record music and I won't be able to get started until I'm all settled in. So expect it to be out in either late August or early September. Again I'm sorry for the wait.

Ending contract with Tunecore

Due to the lack of sales on Itunes and Amazon, I've decided to end my contract with Tunecore my record provider and my release from last fall will no longer be available on the store. But save your tears, cause you can still listen to them on my YouTube channel http://www.youtube.com/user/marlyonama plus you can download them from YouTube with special download software you might be able to find on the internet. from now on, my music career is nonprofit and independent. Regardless of the reception I get, I will continue to compose and write songs unless I get some really awful criticism.

Remember back in January I opened a poll that I decided to close early. Well the reason I closed it was due to the lack of attention over a long period of time. I know I was supposed to announce this back on the 18th when the poll was scheduled to close, I was thinking about this for a long time. The name for my new album will be called "A Bleak Reality" that is slated for an online distribution next year. Why I'm posting so early is so that I can both plan ahead and write those songs to follow the theme of the album. As filler, I will also be working on an EP from last years "Fallen Angel".

Extended Play

Unable to decide a name for my 2012 album, I'm giving that responsibility for the fans to vote on. Each name will represent a theme along with the singles set for release this year. In order to be more successful, promotion is needed. Throughout the summer, I will release singles to promote the "Fallen Angel" album. These songs will eventually be on my upcoming album planned for 2012.

Being the last day of 2010, I've set up some plans within the next year.
I'll be composing some additional songs for a few singles I'll release sometime in the fall.
A new album has been announced too with composing will take within the new year. The currently unnamed album will be released in spring 2012 which will also include my new singles from earlier.

Year in Review

With 2010 coming to an end, this was a very exciting and eventful year. I've gone through a lot of rewriting and enhancing all of my music to release my debut album this year. I'm very proud of my music videos on YouTube, with a lot of work involved. Long story short, I fulfilled my goal to have my music out this year, hoping that next year will be filled with more excitement ahead.
